Cut the top 1/4 inch off of the garlic (including the dry exterior) and wrap it in a piece of foil, so the foil cradles the garlic.
Next, add about 1 tsp of olive oil on top of the garlic, so that it seeps into the garlic bulb. Sprinkle salt and pepper on top of the garlic.
Place the foil wrapped garlic bulb on a sheet pan and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the garlic is golden brown. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before handling .
