Thai Turkey Meatballs

We are huge Thai food lovers in this house and these Thai meatballs are our new favorite! It’s an easy way to capture all of the fresh Thai flavors in one easy weeknight dinner.

Thai Turkey Meatballs

Ground turkey is the perfect meat for meatballs. It’s lean, it absorbs flavor well, and it’s healthy. I love it for Thai Turkey Meatballs for all of these reasons! I do recommend buying a higher fat content for better flavor and moisture content.

Thai Meatball Ingredients

Fresh ingredients are key for the best Thai flavor.

  • Ground turkey: I recommend a higher fat content for better flavor. Stay away from ground turkey breast as it tends to run pretty dry.
  • Chopped green onion
  • Diced red bell pepper
  • Cilantro
  • Garlic: Fresh chopped is best, but if you only have jarred or granulated that will work in a pinch.
  • Ginger: I use ginger paste because I like how the flavor disperses. Fresh is great, too!
  • Lime zest
  • Lime juice
  • Egg
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Breadcrumbs: I used panko but traditional will work as well.

The best tool to mix meatball meat is a set of clean hands. I know, I know…A lot of people balk at this. Use gloves if it makes you feel better.

Scooping Meatballs

Prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper. I like to use a cookie scooper for any meatball recipe I make. It keeps the size consistent, resulting in meatballs that cook at the same rate.

Bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until an electronic meat thermometer reaches 165 degrees internally.

Once the meatballs are fully cooked, add some sweet chili sauce (or, toss the meatballs in it if you want them to have even more flavor). I love these served with white rice, or just on their own as an appetizer.
