I came up with Charcuterie Sushi on my own. I declare, this 17th day of June 2024, if this recipe goes viral- IT WAS ME. I STARTED THIS. THIS IS MY IDEA. You hear that, TikTok youngins?! Hipsters of youth?! I dreamed this up at 2AM when I couldn’t sleep and was thinking about how to strike it rich via a butter board level trending recipe. Charcuterie sushi combines all of your favorite charcuterie ingredients, rolled into one log, then sliced into sushi like slices.

Ingredients & Tools Needed for This Recipe

You can get all of the ingredients for Charcuterie Sushi at any grocery store. It’s pretty simple, actually!

  • Prosciutto: You really need something to hold the ingredients together. A vegetarian alternative would be zucchini strips (you could marinate them first for more flavor).
  • Boursin Cheese: This helps act like glue so the filling ingredients stick together. You could use any spreadable cheese you like if you don’t want to use Boursin Cheese. Goat cheese, Laughing Cow, Gouda Spread, etc.
  • Sliced Apple: Slice them thin so you can roll them up. Tart green apples are delicious with sharp cheese but whatever you have on hand works!
  • Sliced Cheese: I used a sharp white cheddar.
  • Herbs or Greens: I used fresh basil but arugula would be delicious for a peppery flavor.
  • Balsamic Glaze: I drizzled this over the sushi. If you don’t have balsamic glaze on hand, use honey or make a homemade honey mustard.

Tips for Perfectly Rolled & Sliced Charcuterie Sushi

  • Place the ingredients on top of plastic wrap so you can roll it as tightly as possible. If you have a bamboo sushi roller, top it with plastic wrap and try that too!
  • If you want to make this ahead of time, roll it up and store it in plastic up to a day ahead.
  • Place the ‘sushi’ on a wooden cutting board and drizzle with balsamic glaze, and top with extra greens for a beautiful appetizer!

Other Flavor Combinations

Here’s a few other flavor combination ideas! You can use any method as long as you have something sticky on the inside to hold the ingredients together inside the prosciutto roll.

  • Herby Strawberry: Prosciutto, basil Boursin, thin sliced strawberries, smoked gouda, basil & balsamic glaze.
  • Spicy: Prosciutto, goat cheese, sliced pepper jack, capicola, green apples, and hot honey.
  • Health Conscious: Prosciutto, Laughing Cow cheese, sliced apples & pears, & lots of arugula.
