Easy Stuffed Crescent Roll Recipe

Crescent rolls are easily stuffed with loads of options. I see a lot of recipes featuring crescent rolls that stuff the with savory filling, but it’s rare to find recipes with a sweet filling. I love these because they’re not overly sweet, and they work great for breakfast, brunch, or a snack. My son had 3 of them in one sitting.

Ingredients:

  • Crescent Roll Dough
  • Cream Cheese: I always use low fat Greek cream cheese. Green Mountain brand, I buy it at Sprouts here in SoCal. Whipped cream cheese or a softened block works best
  • Honey: Helps sweeten the cream cheese, and also gives the berries a bright flavor.
  • Vanilla Extract: Just a dash for some added flavor.
  • Berries: I used raspberries and blueberries.

Making Stuffed Danishes with Crescent Rolls

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.
  • Add parchment paper to a sheet tray.
  • Mix together cream cheese mixture: Combine cream cheese, honey and vanilla. Mix until smooth and no lumps remain. Set aside.
  • Unroll crescent dough into pieces as they’re intended (long triangles). Spread about 1 tsp of the cream cheese mixture onto each crescent roll. Add berries. Roll into traditional crescent rolls, holding the filling inside as you roll.
  • Place stuffed crescent rolls onto sheet pan. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown throughout.

More Filling Options

  • Instead of berries, try peaches! Add a sprinkling of brown sugar and cinnamon for a peach pie flavor.
  • Strawberries and Nutella spread.
  • Blueberries only for a blueberry pie flavor.
  • Pineapple, cream cheese mixture, a pinch of cinnamon, and a maraschino cherry on top for a pineapple upside down flavor.

Other Variations of Stuffed Crescent Rolls

  • Bake them in the air fryer: 350 degrees for about 7-10 minutes. Each air fryer varies so much, be sure to check them at about the 7 minute mark to see if they need to bake longer.
  • If you want more of a hand pie shape, fold them over and seal the edges.
  • Sprinkle some raw sugar on top for added crunchy texture.

I find these are best served fresh, or within a couple hours of baking. They’re so quick to make you can pop a batch in the oven anytime you need an easy brunch treat! If I have leftovers, I put them in a plastic bag and store them in the refrigerator for about a day or two.
